Matildas’ Tokyo 2020 matches draw big audiences for Seven

The Australian women’s football team has been attracting record domestic television audiences for its matches at Tokyo 2020, on free-to-air broadcaster Seven.

Seven reported an audience of 2.24 million for Friday night's 4-3, extra-time victory over Great Britain. This smashed a record set last week, during the previous match against Sweden, of 1.5 million. The opening match against New Zealand recorded an audience of 916,000.
