MCS picks up FIS World Cup

French basic-tier sports broadcaster Ma Chaîne Sport has acquired non-exclusive rights for freestyle skiing and snowboard World Cup events organised by the Fédération Internationale de Ski, skiing’s global governing body.

The length of the deal was not disclosed, but it will start on Saturday, November 10, with coverage of the Big Air event in Anvers, Belgium, and will run until at least the end of the 2012-13 campaign on March 26, 2013.

Sports broadcaster Eurosport also has rights in France for the events, under a deal with FIS covering pan-European rights for all World Cups.

According to French news website En Pleine Lucarne, MCS struck the deal directly with the global governing body.

The rights will be exploited on the MCS Extrême channel, with MCS showing skiing and snowboarding competitions live.
