Mediapro’s Gol to show free-to-air boxing in DAZN tie-up

Subscription sports platform DAZN has reached an agreement with Mediapro that allows the agency’s Gol TV to showcase free-to-air coverage in Spain of certain boxing bouts promoted by Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions.

The agreement will allow Gol to air coverage of fights on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Coverage will begin on Wednesday with a re-run of the European super-lightweight title fight between Spain’s Sandor Martin and the UK’s Joe Hughes.

On Friday, Gol will show a replay of the recent Commonwealth middleweight fight between Felix Cash and Jason Welborn.

Veronica Diquattro, who leads DAZN’s business in Spain (and Italy), said: “This new alliance with Gol is part of our global strategy and helps us to reinforce our objective of increasing the general interest in the different sports competitions that fans can then enjoy live and on demand through DAZN.”

Diquattro was recently named to the position of chief customer and innovation officer in an executive reshuffle.
