Spanish commercial broadcaster Mediaset has acquired rights to national team events organised by the International Basketball Federation (Fiba).
The five-year deal, from 2017 to 2021, will focus on Spain’s men’s national team. Coverage will be provided through the Mediaset Sports channels and on online platform mitele.es.
The agreement commences with this year’s EuroBasket tournament, which will run from August 31 to September 17. The deal also covers qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup, as well as action from the event itself. Mediaset will also provide coverage of qualifiers for the 2021 EuroBasket, and of the event itself.
The deal was brokered by Fiba Media, the strategic partnership between Fiba and digital media specialist Perform.
