MLB Network launches authenticated streaming service

North America’s Major League Baseball has launched an authenticated stream for its MLB Network pay-television service.

Customers will now be able to access the MLB Network via a desktop computer as well as mobile and tablet devices.

An authenticated stream of MLB Network will be available to access on desktop via the MLBNetwork.com website. Mobile and tablet users can also gain access to the new streaming service via the MLB.com At Bat application.

Fans wishing to access the new service will be required to provide proof that they are a subscriber.

Eight of the main US pay-television broadcasters will authenticate MLB Network subscribers via the MLB.com At Bat app and online at MLBNetwork.com. However, subscribers to Comcast and Charter will reportedly be unable to access the new service until after the initial launch.
