Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, extended its rights in the Nordics for American football’s National Football League in a five-year deal, from 2012-13 to 2016-17.

MTG acquired live multi-platform rights covering free-to-air television, pay-television, mobile devices and the internet in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The deal includes rights to regular season games, play-offs and the Super Bowl match.

In Sweden, games will be shown live across MTG’s basic-tier channel TV10 and pay-television channel Viasat Fotball HD. In Norway, coverage will be split across basic-tier channel Viasat 4, and pay-television channels Viasat Sport and Viasat Sport HD. In Denmark, live coverage will be on basic-tier channel TV3 Plus and pay-television channel TV2 Sport. In Finland, coverage will be on pay-television channel Nelonen Pro.

The deal was agreed directly with the NFL.
