Montreal Canadiens sign regional rights deal

Canadian pay-television broadcaster Rogers Sportsnet has acquired the English-language regional rights for games featuring the Montreal Canadiens NHL ice hockey team.

The deal will run for three years, from 2014-15 to 2016-17.

The agreement will cover 42 regional games this season. Combined with its national rights package, Sportsnet will broadcast a total of 82 regular-season games across nine channels during the 2014-15 season.

Sportsnet will broadcast 39 Canadiens matches on its regional Sportsnet East channel and three more on its regional City Montreal channel.

Sportsnet will also broadcast 40 Canadiens matches on a national basis this season across its various channels.

In addition to coverage of the Canadiens, Sportsnet will also broadcast more than 500 other national and regional regular-season matches during the 2014-15 season.
