Motors TV transforms into Motorsport.tv

International motorsports broadcaster Motors TV has rebranded to Motorsport.tv following its takeover by automotive digital technology business Motorsport Network.

The new-look Motorsport.tv will offer full HD programming available across all five regional feeds for the first time.

Motorsport.tv will continue to broadcast in traditional linear format to 42 countries worldwide in six languages. In North and Latin America, France, Europe, and the UK and Ireland, Motorsport.tv channels will be unaffected by the rebranding.

Jean-Luc Roy, founder of Motors TV, in November said it would be “business as usual with benefits” for the broadcaster after its takeover. Upon completion of the deal earlier in the month, it was suggested that Motors TV could drop its linear channels and become a solely OTT operation.

It had already been announced that Motors TV would become the backbone of Motorsport.tv, a performance motoring and motorsport OTT video broadcast network. However, although Roy said a new OTT platform would launch in 2017, he added that the Motors TV linear channels would remain.

In a statement, Motorsport.tv said it will offer live and full HD coverage of premium motorsport on two and four wheels, including motor racing series the World Endurance Championship and motorcycling’s MXGP, as well as World Rally Championship highlights.

Programming will be gradually revamped to include more original content, with daily news and opinion shows, along with scripted series and documentaries.
