MP & Silva brokers Premier12 rights deals

The MP & Silva agency has sealed a number of rights deals on behalf of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) for the inaugural Premier12 national team baseball tournament, which begins on Sunday.

Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has acquired rights in Italy and the Netherlands, with Dutch public-service broadcaster NOS also securing coverage of the tournament, which will run until November 21 in Japan and Taiwan and will feature the top 12 national teams in the world.

International pay-television broadcaster Eleven Sports Network has obtained rights in Belgium, Poland, Singapore and Malaysia.

Other rights deals have been agreed with the following pay-television broadcasters: beIN Sports in Indonesia, the Philippines and Australia; i-Cable in Hong Kong; Sky Net in Myanmar; Solar in the Philippines; Macau Cable; J-Sports in Japan; OSN in Dubai and Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.

Chinese online television services LeTV and PPTV, as well as state-owned satellite broadcaster VTC in Vietnam and the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, also acquired rights.

Internet service Camerabay.tv has obtained online rights in Taiwan, complementing host broadcaster Videoland’s rights.

All 38 games of the 2015 tournament as well as highlights will be streamed live and for free via the WBSC’s channel on video-sharing website YouTube in territories not covered by broadcast deals.
