Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, has acquired exclusive rights across the Nordic region for the LaLiga and Serie A top football divisions in Spain and Italy.
The rights, covering Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, will start immediately and run for three seasons, until the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Under the broad agreement with the MP & Silva agency, MTG has also extended exclusive rights to France’s top-tier Ligue 1 in Denmark and Norway until 2018 to include Finland and Sweden from the beginning of next season.
The deal has been reached after MP & Silva, unable to strike a broadcast rights deal for the opening weeks of the season, brokered agreements with online publishers to show the beginning of the 2015-16 Serie A and LaLiga campaigns across Nordic countries.
