MTG’s Viaplay expands into Baltics

Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, has launched its Viaplay video-streaming service in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Viaplay launched in the Nordic region five years ago, carrying sport and entertainment programming.

The service carries live coverage of football’s Uefa Champions League and English Premier League plus Formula One motor-racing and Euroleague basketball. Viaplay will also be providing coverage of the Rio 2016 summer Olympic Games.

Viaplay is available in the Baltics for €9.99 ($10.97) per month, or €6.99 without the sports content. The service will be available via the Viaplay website, as well as smartphone and tablet applications.

MTG has also signed an agreement with telecommunications operator Tele2 to make Viaplay available to mobile customers across the Baltic region.
