MTV on the ice with Champions Hockey League in Finland

Commercial and pay-television broadcaster MTV has acquired rights in Finland for the new Champions Hockey League pan-European ice hockey club tournament.

The deal, agreed with the Infront Sports & Media agency, will run for three years, from 2014-15 to 2016-17.

Live coverage of games will be offered on the MTV Sport pay-television channel with highlights shown on the broadcaster’s free-to-air channels. The rights also include coverage on broadband internet and mobile platforms.

Under the deal, MTV will be responsible for producing coverage of the games taking place in Finland.

The new competition is owned and operated by the European Ice Hockey Club Competition, which comprises top European clubs, six national leagues and the International Ice Hockey Federation, the sport’s global governing body. A minimum of six Finnish clubs will participate in the competition alongside 34 other clubs from across Europe.
