NBA nets digital media partnership in Turkey

North American basketball league the NBA has agreed a digital rights partnership with Turkish sports news network Sporx.

The partnership names sporx.com as the official online NBA destination in Turkey. The two parties have launched the new nba.com/turkiye website, which will feature a range of video highlights packages and will be hosted in a dedicated section of the Sporx website.

Visiting the nba.com website in Turkey will automatically result in the user being re-directed to nba.sporx.com. The video content on nba.com/turkiye will include such shows as the Top 10 Plays of the Day and the Fast Break, as well as individual game recaps.

Dedicated team pages will also be set up on the website, which will feature the latest news and video content from each of the 30 NBA franchises.

In addition, nba.com/turkiye will support grassroots basketball events in the country and will organise various NBA-related promotions and sweepstakes for fans.

Naci Cansun, NBA associate vice-president in Turkey, said: “As one of Turkey’s leading sports news platforms, sporx.com will provide fans with an enhanced NBA experience through localised content.”

Three Turkish players currently serve on NBA rosters in the shape of Omer Asik of the New Orleans Pelicans, Ersan Ilyasova (pictured) of the Detroit Pistons and Enes Kanter at the Oklahoma City Thunder.
