The NBC Sports Group division of US media company NBCUniversal has acquired exclusive rights in the country to the inaugural edition of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational horse racing event.
NBC Sports Group agreed the deal with horse racing company the Stronach Group, whose Florida-based Gulfstream Park racecourse will host the event on January 28, 2017.
NBC will deliver 90 minutes of live coverage from Gulfstream Park on the day of the event. The coverage will also be available online at NBCSports.com, and via the NBC Sports app.
The Pegasus World Cup Invitational has a purse of $12m (€10.7m) and has been billed as the world’s most lucrative thoroughbred horse race.
Earlier this week, media consultancy Henry Birtles Associates partnered with the Stronach Group to distribute the international television rights to the event.
