NBC Sports pens extended rights deal with AVP Tour

The NBC Sports Group division of US media company NBCUniversal has renewed its rights deal with the Association of Volleyball Professionals Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.

Live coverage of all eight tournaments on the 2016 tour will be broadcast on NBC and NBC Sports Network, and will also streamed live via the NBC Sports Live Extra platform.

NBC’s live coverage, which will span more than 14 hours, begins with the New Orleans Open on April 17.

Last April, NBC brokered a deal to secure the return of AVP events to network television in the US. At the time, it was claimed that the agreement represented the most comprehensive media partnership in the tour’s history.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
