NBC Sports strikes digital partnership with Yahoo Sports

The NBC Sports division of US media group NBCUniversal has struck a content and promotional deal with internet company Yahoo Sports.

Under the deal, Yahoo Sports will promote and provide links to the NBC Sports Live Extra online video player. The player shows the broadcaster’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ programme, which covers an NFL American football game every week, and the ‘Game of the Week’ from ice hockey’s NHL.

The two companies will also work together to develop original programming that will appear on both the Yahoo Sports and NBC Sports websites.

“The complementary nature of this partnership is unmatched in digital sports media,” Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBC Sports, said. “Through our growing television and digital platforms, the Yahoo Sports partnership dramatically expands the digital reach of NBC Sports around the biggest sporting events. We are committed to continually growing this alliance for the benefit of both parties, our sports property partners, and, most importantly, sports fans.”
