New NBA website to provide live game streaming in Australia

North American basketball league the NBA has signed a multi-year partnership with digital sports content company Perform that will result in the live streaming of NBA games in Australia.

Under the terms of the deal, Perform’s Sportal arm will launch the first-ever official website designed specifically for fans in Australia.

The new online platform on Sportal will offer extensive and localised NBA editorial and video content, including the live streaming of one NBA game every week during the regular season.

Using an advertising funded, free-to-view model, the sports news website will provide streaming of 24 live NBA games during the regular season and up to four playoff games.

In addition, there will be premium video content in the form of highlights and interviews each day.

Australia provides the most number of subscribers, outside of the US, to the NBA’s League Pass International full season digital subscription service.

With the launch of Sportal.com.au/nba, the NBA now features 16 international websites.  The NBA was the first US sports league to offer international web platforms for fans, with the first, NBA.com/Japan, being launched in 1999.
