NFL’s Browns secure local rights deal

The Cleveland Browns NFL American football franchise has entered into a local media-rights agreement with Fox Sports Ohio, a regional sports channel owned by the Fox Cable Networks division of the 21st Century Fox media company.

Terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed, but Crain’s Cleveland Business service said that the partnership would be in place for the 2017-18 season.

SportsTime Ohio, a sister channel of Fox Sports Ohio, will broadcast a range of Browns-related programming, such as a daily, 30-minute wrap-ups of each training session.

The deal also includes shared production and marketing commitments between Fox Sports Ohio, SportsTime Ohio and the Browns.

Fox acquired SportsTime Ohio in 2012 from Major League Baseball franchise the Cleveland Indians.
