NGSN launches new digital football channel in US

Next Generation Sports Network (NGSN) has launched a beta version of its digital sports channel in the US.

The channel will provide coverage of football matches from seven European and Latin American leagues via online and mobile platforms.

NGSN will provide coverage from domestic top divisions in Portugal, the Netherlands, Russia, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Venezuela, with other competitions set to be added to the line-up.

The channel, which can be accessed through NGSN.com or via a mobile application, will provide live or highlights coverage with either English or Spanish commentary.

NGSN added that it will soon be available on game consoles and other internet-connected devices and will launch in Canada after the US, with other countries to follow.

“We are excited to reach out to all those soccer fans in the US for whom it is hardly possible and very expensive to watch soccer,” NGSN chief executive Harry van Streun said. “Netflix and the like have also shown that viewers want to be free to determine when and what to watch. NGSN brings to soccer fans an affordable way to enjoy 24/7, thousands of games without commercial breaks and in HD quality anywhere, anytime.”

He added: “We expect to quickly boost our offering in terms of both content and the countries where NGSN will be broadcast. With our global partner Microsoft we have an organization and a global platform that supports that quick growth.”
