NOS strikes new Dutch skating rights deal

The KNSB, the governing body of ice skating in the Netherlands, has awarded media rights for the sport’s national championships to public-service broadcaster NOS.

The deal will run for four years, from 2014-15 to 2017-18.

Under the agreement, NOS will provide coverage of the short-track and marathon events, as well as figure skating and inline skating.

The rights cover television and internet platforms, as well as radio.

NOS chief executive Jan de Jong described skating as a “must have” for the broadcaster as it is the “main supplier of Olympic gold medals (for the Dutch).”
