Orlando City secures regional rights partner

North American Major League Soccer club Orlando City has entered into a multi-year local rights partnership with Cox Media Group, a subsidiary of US media company Cox Enterprises.

Under the agreement, Cox Media-owned channel WRDQ TV 27 will become the exclusive English-language home for Orlando City games.

Cox Media Group and Orlando City will also work together to create a channel to show Orlando City matches throughout Florida.

WRDQ TV 27 will broadcast all Orlando City regular-season and play-off matches that are not being shown on national television. Each game will be accompanied by 30-minute pre-and post-match analysis programmes.

Live match coverage will begin with Orlando City’s first home game of the 2016 season against Real Salt Lake on March 6.

WRDQ TV 27 will also broadcast a weekly programme that will feature behind-the-scenes coverage from Orlando City. Content from this programme will also appear on Cox Media-owned sister channel WFTV Channel 9.
