Pay-television operator acquires French Ligue 1 rights in East Africa

East African pay-television operator Zuku has acquired rights in Kenya for Ligue 1, the top division of French football, in a three-year deal, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.

Zuku will show exclusive live or slightly delayed coverage of five matches per week.

Hannelie Bekker, managing director of Zuku’s parent company, Wananchi Group Programming, confirmed the deal and also revealed that another two matches per week would be shown by pay-television broadcaster Setanta Africa, which is available on the Zuku platform.
