PCB appoints new Super League partners after IMG-Reliance exit

The Pakistan Cricket Board has named the Blitz and Trans Group consortium as the new live production partner of this year’s Pakistan Super League after the IMG-Reliance agency withdrew from its deal for the Twenty20 competition.

Blitz will serve as the PCB’s broadcast partner in Pakistan, with Trans Group having been appointed as event management partners.

The consortium will begin coverage when matches resume today (Wednesday).

IMG-Reliance, an Indian company, backed out of its agreement on Sunday in the wake of a terrorist attack in the Indian region of Kashmir.

Last Thursday, at least 40 Indian paramilitary troopers were killed in what is being reported as the deadliest terrorist attack in three decades in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack has served to further inflame tensions between India and Pakistan.

IMG-Reliance agreed a deal to back the PSL in January but the PCB has been forced to act quickly to ensure the PSL continues to receive television coverage following the company’s withdrawal.
