PCCW picks up Premier League rights in Hong Kong

Hong Kong telco PCCW has acquired rights for the 2018-19 season of football’s English Premier League.

The rights are exclusive across pay-television, free-to-air television and OTT platforms and cover all 380 matches.

The rights will be exploited on PCCW’s Now TV service. In addition, subscribers to Now E, PCCW’s new OTT service, which launched in May, will also be able to watch matches.

Coverage will also be available via the Now Player app and Now TV’s video-on-demand service.

The PCCW Media division has secured the rights after LeSports HK, the regional sports-dedicated division of the LeEco media company, was liquidated in March. LeSports HK had been due to show the league for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
