Perform teams up with Bayern, Goal claims first with Twitter tie-up

German Bundesliga football club Bayern Munich has signed a strategic partnership with Perform, while the digital sports content and media group’s Goal subsidiary has launched what it claims is the first live sports show on social media platform Twitter for the Middle East and North Africa region.

Bayern’s partnership with Perform will focus on Latin America. The content and sales partnership will give brands the opportunity to engage with Bayern, as well as gaining access to Perform’s platforms.

Bayern includes the likes of Colombian playmaker, James Rodríguez (pictured); Chilean midfielder, Arturo Vidal; and Brazilian defender, Rafinha in its ranks.

Bayern Munich’s president for the Americas, Rudolf Vidal, said: “FC Bayern has over 100 million followers in the Americas. Through Perform’s digital reach in Central and South America coupled with their support in forming mutually beneficial brand partnerships, we will be able to better connect with our fans in that region.”

Meanwhile, Twitter and Goal’s ‘#YallaGoal’ initiative will launch for the Fifa World Cup.

Hosted in Arabic, the bi-weekly evening show will focus on football related news on Twitter during the tournament. Launching today (Monday), the show, produced by Goal, will cover a variety of World Cup topics including insights, football-related entertainment and news.

The editorial will include debates, team and player reviews as well as Opta analysis, followed by entertainment segments that will feature live Twitter polls and Q&As, humorous moments and competitions for viewers.

Sponsors include Rani, Unilever’s Axe, Rexona, Clear and Lipton brands, as well as Infiniti. These sponsorships will allow Twitter tailored audiences to access and view the live episodes, which will appear as Promoted Tweets, while they’re scrolling through their timelines.

#YallaGoal will include World Cup match highlights and Twitter reactions in a form of live video. The live stream will be free and accessible globally to logged-in and logged-out users on Twitter and connected devices.

The show will air on different days and times of the week, after key fixtures and match days played by the Arab teams, via @GoalAR.
