Plazamedia to produce ZDF’s winter sports World Cup coverage

German public-service broadcaster ZDF has hired production company Plazamedia to produce its coverage of winter sports World Cup events.

The deal covers five World Cups during the 2012-13 season.

The first event covered by the agreement, the Ski Jumping World Cup, took place on December 8-9. Plazamedia will also produce ZDF’s coverage of the World Cups of Nordic combined skiing, bobsleigh and skeleton, luge and biathlon through to March 2013.

Under the agreement, Plazamedia will provide production equipment, editing suites and personnel.

In August, Plazamedia was commissioned by ZDF to produce the broadcaster’s coverage of the 2012-13 Uefa Champions League, the top club football competition in Europe.
