PPTV picks up rights ahead of Thailand’s MotoGP debut

Thai digital terrestrial broadcaster PPTV has acquired rights to the MotoGP motorcycling championship.

The Bangkok Post newspaper reported that PPTV would provide live coverage of all 19 races during the 2018 MotoGP season.

The deal has been signed as Thailand prepares to host its first MotoGP event on October 7. Under an agreement signed last August between the Thai government and the series’ commercial rights-holder, Dorna Sports, a grand prix will be held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram from 2018 to 2020.

The rights deal was signed ahead of yesterday’s (Sunday’s) season-opening Grand Prix of Qatar, which was won by Italy’s Andrea Dovizioso.
