ProSiebenSat.1 invests in EverSport and football platform

German media company ProSiebenSat.1 has continued its investment in digital sports media ventures by acquiring stakes in US media group EverSport and global football network 90min.

ProSiebenSat.1 has purchased a minority stake in EverSport, which operates online streaming service EverSport.tv.

EverSport.tv currently offers live and on-demand video from over 30 sports properties, including football’s Italian Serie A and Spanish LaLiga, mixed martial arts’ Glory World Series and US college sports conferences the Pac-12 and Big Ten.

Carl Kirchhoff, co-founder and president of EverSport Media, said: “This gives us the possibility, even for fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, to offer a wide range of sports from around the world, including football, US college sports or combat and action sports – via the internet, mobile devices and OTT.”

Meanwhile, ProSiebenSat.1 has invested $15m (€13.4m) for a minority stake in 90min through an investment round supported by existing investors Battery Ventures, Dawn Capital and Gemini Ventures.

The company has its headquarters in London, along with offices in Tel Aviv and Manila. Offering user-generated and semi-professional content the online platform currently reaches 30m users.

The latest investments come after ProSiebenSat.1 in July completed its acquisition of a majority stake in the DOSB New Media arm of the German Olympic Committee (DOSB).
