ProSiebenSat.1 nets Euro 2016 rights package in Germany

German commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has acquired a package of rights for the Uefa Euro 2016 national team football tournament, under a sublicensing deal with public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF.

ProSiebenSat.1 will broadcast six group games live through Sat.1, with the agreement marking the first time its main channel has televised games from a major football championship.

The group stage games televised by Sat.1 will be those that are scheduled simultaneously at the end of the group phase of the tournament, which is being hosted from June 10 to July 10 in France.

ProSiebenSat.1 agreed the deal with ARD and ZDF, along with SportA, the agency that represents the public-service broadcasters.
