Rai strikes deals for Pro12 and domestic rugby competition

Italian state broadcaster Rai has reached an agreement with the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) to show games from the Pro12 European club tournament and the Eccellenza, the top division of Italian club rugby union.

The agreement is for the forthcoming 2015-16 season, with the option for a further one-year extension.

Pro12 matches on Rai Sport 1 HD will air on Saturdays, with a live match broadcast at 5.30pm local time and a pre-recorded game from earlier in the weekend. The schedule may be amended to avoid clashes with Italy’s games in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Rai Sport HD 1 will also show a match from the Eccellenza Championship at 7.30pm on Fridays.
