Rightster boosts sports business with Mediasyndicator purchase

Online video distribution and marketing company Rightster has purchased the sports business and certain assets of digital sports firm Mediasyndicator from its administrators for a nominal sum.

The purchase brings Mediasyndicator’s portfolio of over 40 sports websites, including Football League Interactive, Rugby Dump and Club Website into the Rightster network.

Rightster said the transaction serves its goal of consolidating further in the “fragmented” online video services sector.

Under the terms of the deal, Mediasyndicator’s portfolio of sports sites will continue to receive premium display advertising services as well as now being able to sell premium advertising across Rightster’s multi-channel network on video-sharing website YouTube.

The sites will also have access to live and on-demand sports video as well as additional pre-roll and sponsorship opportunities.

Rightster added that it expects the purchase of Mediasyndicator’s sports business to add incremental audiences and augment its relationships with advertisers.
