Dutch commercial broadcaster RTL7 has extended a rights deal for Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events in a three-year deal, from 2014 to 2016.
The deal includes rights for the World Championships, the PDC’s flagship annual tournament.
RTL programming director Marco Louwerens told Broadcast magazine: “Darts has enjoyed a renaissance on RTL7. The tournaments have a prominent place in our programming and are often broadcast live.”
The popularity of darts has been boosted in the Netherlands by the success of Dutch stars such as Michael van Gerwen, who won the PDC World Championship final on Wednesday.
