RTVC, the commercial enterprise of audiovisual content in Cuba, has agreed a landmark sports rights partnership with the Rushmans consultancy.
RTVC has contracted with Rushmans to distribute, market and co-produce Cuban sports content and events, both live and recorded, from the country to the world.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed but it means coverage of Cuba’s national baseball series, boxing and other major international sports events staged in the country will now be available to international audiences. Reciprocal deals may also enable Cuba to access more international sports programming.
“Cuba has excellent sporting credentials and enormous potential to host significant sports events due to its geographical location and passionate sports fans,” Nigel Rushman, founder of Rushmans, said. “We are proud and excited to be offering remarkable sports content to the market for the first time, initial interest is very pleasing and sales are in progress.”
