Mixed martial arts series the Ultimate Fighting Championship has expanded its agreement with Saran Media to allow the agency to distribute UFC rights in Iceland until January 2017.
The deal covers 18 UFC live fight cards, including the organisation’s flagship numbered events, along with the new UFC Fight Nights which are taking place throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The next event to be shown will be UFC 171: Hendricks v Lawler on March 15 from Dallas, Texas.
Saran Media has held all media rights for UFC programming in Turkey since 2010 and will also market a range of taped content for Icelandic fans.
Iceland represents a growth market for UFC due to the rise of the country’s unbeaten MMA fighter Gunnar Nelson, who has won his first three UFC fights.
