SBS lands World Taekwondo Federation rights renewal

Korean commercial broadcaster SBS has extended its rights agreement with the World Taekwondo Federation.

The new four-year deal will run until the end of 2020, extending an agreement that had taken in 2015 and 2016.

Under the agreement, SBS Sport will film and broadcast the WTF’s Grand Prix series, World Championships and World Team Championships to Korean viewers.

The first event to be covered by the fresh agreement will be the Grand Prix Series 1 in August. The deal will conclude with the World Team Championships in December 2020.

The WTF noted that rights to its events in Korea will be opened to a separate bidding process between SBS Sport and the nation’s other major terrestrial broadcasters.
