Irish pay-television broadcaster Setanta Sports has secured the rights to the Wimbledon Championships tennis grand slam among a number of deals for major sporting properties.
Setanta will show Wimbledon for the next three years up to the 2017 edition of the tournament. This year’s Wimbledon runs from June 29 to July 12, while Setanta has also extended its deal to show the preceding French Open grand slam from Roland Garros until 2019.
Another major British summer sporting showpiece, golf’s Open Championship, will air on Setanta from St Andrews on July 16-19. The deal for the annual major tournament is on a year-by-year basis.
Finally, all 26 games from the Copa America national team football tournament, which takes place in Chile between June 11 and July 4, will be shown live on Setanta Ireland.
