Sharing premium rights is the new normal in India, Disney president Madhavan says

Splitting the rights for market-leading cricket properties between different broadcasters is a feature of the "evolution" of Indian sports media driven by rising costs, K Madhavan, the president of Disney and Star in India, has said.

Madhavan gave an interview to the Economic Times newspaper following two recent huge rights auctions, for Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council rights, that saw Star lose its exclusive grip on both properties as values soared.
