Sina and Mediapro land 3×3 basketball TV deals with 10 broadcasters

The Sina Sports division of Chinese internet operator Sina has, together with the Mediapro agency, reached agreements with broadcasters in multiple territories for the 2019 Sina Elite League (SEL), the invitational 3×3 basketball league.

The deals with 10 broadcasters have been signed ahead of this year’s event, which takes place in Guangzhou, China from December 20-22.

The majority of the deals were brokered by Mediapro Asia, which signed a five-year strategic deal with Sina Sports just under two years ago to serve as the exclusive media-rights agency and commercial-rights agency of the Sina Sports-owned tournament.

Agreements in the Asia-Pacific region have been reached with Solar TV (Philippines), SPO TV (South Korea), Astro (Malaysia), RCTI+ (Indonesia), ESPN (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea), True (Thailand), FPT (Vietnamm), and Fox Sports Asia Digital (Taiwan).

There is also the first coverage in Europe and North America through deals with pay-TV broadcaster SportKlub in the Balkan countries and Game Plus in USA and Canada.

There is also extensive domestic coverage in place in China.

The 2018 tournament was broadcast by pay-TV broadcaster beIN Sports in a dozen territories in a deal struck by Mediapro Asia.

The SEL will also be streamed live on its official page on social media platform Facebook. Additional streams will be provided in China via Sina Sports, Weibo and 10 other digital media platforms.

The SEL will feature 13 top-level teams from New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Seoul, Amsterdam, Liman, Ljubljana, Ulaanbaatar, Melbourne, Hanoi, Manila, Hong Kong, and Taipei, as well as the top three teams from the Sina Golden League Finals 2019.
