The Ski Classics cross-country skiing series has secured television distribution in Russia for the first time under a rights deal with pay-television broadcaster NTV Plus.
Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but NTV Plus will cover the ongoing 2014-15 Ski Classics season, which consists of nine events across Europe.
“Swix Ski Classics is happy to secure media distribution in Russia, which is the world´s biggest market for cross country skiing,” Ski Classics chief executive David Nilsson said. “We have many ski fans in Russia following Ski Classics each winter, hopefully this will please them. In this season’s first event weekend in Livigno, we had very strong Russian skiers on the start line including the Olympic medallist Maxim Vylegzhanin (pictured).”
