Sky adds fan audio and reduced package for returning Bundesliga

German pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland will offer viewers the option of playing recorded crowd noise during its Bundesliga coverage as the domestic football season returns tomorrow (Saturday).

The Bundesliga will return with behind-closed-doors matches tomorrow following a two-month absence due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Viewers with Sky Q or Sky+ decoders will be able to recreate the atmosphere of full stadia by selecting an alternative audio option that will feature crowd chants.

Alternatively, viewers will be able to watch the matches with “Original” sound if they prefer, focusing on the shouts of players and coaches, along with the sound of the ball.

Sky has also announced details of special subscription offers ahead of the Bundesliga’s return.

Sky Q customers in Germany will be able to access Bundesliga coverage for €24.99 ($27) per month.

Viewers can also access the Supersport package, available through the Sky Ticket streaming service, for a one-off fee of €39.99 for two months in order to cover the remainder of the rescheduled Bundesliga season. The Supersport package usually costs €29.99 per month.

The German Football League (DFL) recently reached an agreement on rights fee payments with Sky and its other domestic rights-holders (with the exception of the Discovery-owned Eurosport).

Sky broadcasts 266 live Bundesliga matches exclusively each season and all 306 matches from the second-tier 2. Bundesliga.
