Sky closes in on GAA rights

UK and Ireland pay-television broadcaster BSkyB is in advanced talks over acquiring rights for competitions operated by the Gaelic Athletic Association, according to Irish newspaper the Independent.

Sky is in negotiations with the association over a deal to acquire up to 10 games per season, including two All-Ireland quarter-finals.

It is not clear whether the negotiations are in conjunction with another broadcaster, the report added.

The GAA is keen to increase its rights income from about €10m ($13.8m) per year.
