Sky Deutschland commercial chief Maggioni departs

Marcello Maggioni has left his position as chief commercial officer at pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland.

Maggioni, who also served as a member of Sky Deutschland’s executive board, had held the position since 2016. German news website DWDL.de reported that his departure is not related to the current restructuring process at Sky Deutschland and a search for his successor is already underway.

Maggioni oversaw customer and revenue-related matters at Sky Deutschland, and also oversaw the introduction and expansion of the broadcaster’s newly-formed OTT business, Sky Ticket.

Maggioni also worked for Sky Deutschland between 2008 to 2014 in marketing and sales roles. Between 2014 and 2016, he worked within the senior management at the German arm of telecommunications company Vodafone.

Maggioni’s departure comes after Paul Sexton-Chadwick left Sky Deutschland earlier in the month to join OTT streaming platform DAZN as senior vice-president of commercial propositions. In his most recent role at Sky Deutschland, Sexton-Chadwick oversaw responsibility for Sky Ticket.

Other recent departures from Sky Deutschland include Sky Media chief executive Thomas Deissenberger, sporting director Roman Steuer and head of communications Ralph Fürther.
