Sky Mexico extends Euroleague Basketball agreement

Pay-television broadcaster Sky Mexico has retained rights to the Euroleague Basketball club tournament in Central and South America and the Caribbean Basin.

The extension will run for five seasons, from 2017-18 to 2021-22.

Sky Mexico has been showing the Euroleague jointly with pay-television broadcaster DirecTV Latin America. The two broadcasters have been showing up to four games per week, but the number could increase in the next cycle, according to the Euroleague.

“Keeping Sky Mexico as a long-term partner with this early contract renewal is more evidence that the Euroleague is attracting and satisfying a wider and wider audience year after year,” Andrea Bassani, the Euroleague’s chief television and new media rights officer, said. “Global fans recognise something special about Euroleague games, and we are thankful to have the help of committed partners like Sky Mexico, whose extensive coverage on a broad regional basis, together with DirecTV Latin America, lets us look forward to having even more satisfied Euroleague fans from Central and South America and the Caribbean Basin as well.”
