Sky returns to Austrian ice hockey league, Servus extends deal

Austria’s Eishockey Liga, the top division of ice hockey in the country, has agreed rights deals with pay-television broadcaster Sky Österreich and Servus TV, the German commercial broadcaster owned by energy drinks brand Red Bull.

Sky has returned to partner the Eishockey Liga having previously broadcast the competition from 2003-04 to 2009-10. Sky has agreed a five-season deal, running from 2016-17 to 2020-21, through which it will broadcast more than 50 games per season as the league’s exclusive pay-television partner.

Servus has agreed a three-season extension to its partnership, covering the 2016-17 to 2018-19 campaigns, with an option to add a further two years to the deal. As the Liga’s exclusive free-to-air partner it will broadcast over 40 games live per season.
