Sky to broadcast and promote German beach volleyball

Pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland has signed a five-year deal, beginning in 2013, for the broadcast and marketing rights to the beach volleyball competitions of the German volleyball federation, the Deutsche Volleyball-Verband.

Sky’s marketing subsidiary, Sky Media Network, will market the German Beach Cup Tour and the official beach volleyball championships of the DVV on a national and international basis.

Sky will broadcast the finals of the four SuperCups of the Beach Cup Tour, along with the semi-finals and finals of the men’s and women’s German beach volleyball championships. The broadcaster’s sports news channel, Sky Sport News HD, will also provide highlights of the competitions.

Carsten Schmidt, Sky’s chief officer of sports, advertising sales and the internet, said: “The exclusive beach volleyball arrangement with the DVV offers our marketing company Sky Media Network a host of new opportunities, while it is also a great addition to our live summer sports coverage.”
