SkyNet acquires Premier League rights in Myanmar

Myanmar pay-television broadcaster SkyNet has acquired rights for English football’s Premier League for three years, from 2013-14 to 2015-16.

The deal for live audiovisual rights covers all platforms and includes all 380 games per season.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper, SkyNet will pay £25 million ($39.7 million) for the rights over the three-year period, up from the £200,000 ($317,000) the league gets in the current cycle.

The deal marks the first time that the rights have been sold in Myanmar as a single market. In the current cycle, pan-Asian broadcaster ESPN Star Sports holds the rights in a multi-territory deal.
