The Learfield Sports agency has agreed a seven-year deal with US college South Methodist University for the multimedia rights to its Mustang athletics teams.
The partnership will commence with the start of the 2013-14 collegiate American football and athletic seasons.
Learfield will establish Mustang Sports Properties as the local entity to work with the SMU athletics administration. This entity will manage each aspect of the rights relationship, which will include television shows, in addition to a range of sponsorship and marketing activities.
In-house SMU staff that had been handling the college’s athletics rights will be transitioned to the new entity.
Learfield Sports also represents SMU’s fellow American Athletic Conference schools University of Memphis and University of Tulsa.
