Spanish basketball’s ACB lands Icelandic TV deal

The Asociación de Clubes Españoles de Baloncesto (ACB), which organises the top tier of club basketball in Spain, has finalised a rights deal in Iceland with pay-television broadcaster Stöð 2 Sport.

The broadcaster, which is owned by media company Sýn, has acquired rights to the Liga Endesa, Copa del Rey and Supercopa Endesa.

The agreement covers the 2020-21 season only.

Stöð 2 Sport has secured broadcast rights for live matches, plus the weekly magazine programme The Fifth Quarter.

Icelandic players currently plying their trade in Spanish basketball’s top flight include Martin Hermansson (Valencia Basket), Haukur Pálsson (Morabanc Andorra) and Tryggvi Hlinason (Casademont Zaragoza).
