Spanish basketball’s ACB nets two-year TV deal in Argentina

The Asociación de Clubes Españoles de Baloncesto (ACB), which organises the top tier of club basketball in Spain, has finalised a two-year broadcast rights deal in Argentina with DeporTV, the free-to-air sports channel owned by the Argentinian government.

The contract covers the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Rights to the Liga Endesa, Copa del Rey and Supercopa Endesa are included in the deal.

DeporTV’s coverage began at the weekend with the 2020 Supercopa Endesa tournament.

DeporTV replaces Argentinian subscription broadcaster TNT Sports as the rights-holder.

The Turner-owned broadcaster reached an agreement in November for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

Along with live coverage of matches, DeporTV has also picked up rights to The Fifth Quarter weekly magazine programme and highlights from all matches.

Argentinian players currently plying their trade in Spain include Facundo Campazzo, Nico Laprovittola and Gabriel Deck (all Real Madrid), Luca Vildoza (TD Systems Baskonia) and Nicolás Brussino (Casademont Zaragoza).

The ACB recently agreed a new rights deal in Iceland with pay-television broadcaster Stöð 2 Sport.
