Spanish police join crackdown on illegal streaming of Premier League

Spanish police have raided a store owned by an internet service provider (ISP) in Malaga on suspicion of hosting a pirate IPTV service that shows English Premier League football.

The arrests followed a joint investigation between the league and digital protection company Irdeto.

The investigation, which was initiated by the league, reportedly found that the Y-Internet ISP, which is run by two UK citizens, was providing unauthorised online access to 100 pay-television channels, including those that cover the league.

Earlier this week, the league hailed a police crackdown on the sale and distribution of illegal television set-top devices following the arrests of five people in the UK.
